JAMMU:  Governor N.N. Vohra has complimented Prof. Mushtaq A Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, for successful conduct of examinations and completion of admission process.

In a report submitted to the Governor by the University, it has been informed that the part of the term end examinations of graduating students (8th Semester); 6th semester in case of B. Tech Engineering disciplines (Electrical, Computer Science, Civil, Food Technology, Electronics & Communication); and 4th semester students in case of Post Graduate programmes (MBA, MBA IB, Arabic, Islamic Studies, English, Journalism) have been conducted and results have also been declared.

The University issued 24 selection notifications in which 1,292 students have been admitted to various courses and the classes for the new programmes have also commenced from 19-11-2016.

The VC has further informed that with view to facilitate students the faculty members have prepared video lectures which have been uploaded on the university website and also distributed on CDs/pen-drives.

Colleges of Nursing at Awantipora and Chrar-i-Sharief have also been made functional after obtaining approval of Indian Nursing Council and the classes are scheduled to commence from 1stDecember 2016.

The Raj Bhavan spokesperson recalled the Governor’s continued concern over the irreparable damage suffered by students at all levels due to the recent unrest in the Kashmir Division. He has been stressing on the crucial importance of the required steps being taken most expeditiously to compensate the loss of studies and for the pending examinations in colleges and Universities. In this context, Governor had also taken a review meeting with the Minister for Education and the Vice- Chancellors of the Kashmir based State and Central Universities on 22nd November, 2016.
