KISHTWAR, Oct 7: The district unit of the All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations held a one day conference on the topic ‘save reservation’ to mobilize the cadre for disseminating among the common masses the developments against implementation of reservation in the country and the State. The conference was organised under the chairmanship of Roop Lal.
The major issues of concern during the conference were reservation in recruitment under Rehabr-e-Taleem, Sehat and Zirat, Adhoc or temporary appointments, Anganwari workers, SPOs, NRHM and other State and Central schemes funded by the Government, failure of the Government to implement special component plan within stipulated time, reservation in promotion in all departments, stoppage of tampering with SRO 110 of 2000, correction in seniority list, implementation of Mandal Commission report in toto in J&K and shunning of caste based atrocities.
Addressing the participants, State president, RK Kalsotra attributing the dishonesty of the incumbent Government as the only reason in non-implementation of special component plan for SC/STs, directed the cadre to fight tooth and nail to protect reservation by involving the common masses and making them aware of the loss being caused by the ruthless and illogical policies of the Government.
Adding further, Kalsotra hoped that the legislators belonging to these classes will take up issues of SC/ST/OBCs in the Assembly session starting this month. He finally asked the participants to actively participate in a mass protest rally against the Government for not implementing the reservation in every public sector employment, to be held on November 26, 2012.
The district president, Ram Pal said that reservation is being curtailed and the caste system is seeping in with more stern character into the society, which is proving to be more dangerous than ever.
State president, Gaddi Sippi Sabha, BP Chouhan, said that they would join this endeavour of the confederation by joining in thousands to achieve the three objectives of Babasaheb – to educate, organise and agitate.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Gyan Chand Bhagat, Choudhary Kareem, Noor Mohd, Babu Suman, Girdhari Lal, Bansi Lal and Chanchla Devi.
