Murdered youth’s family to start dharna outside CM’s house

JAMMU, Dec 1: After moving from pillar to post and victimized by the system, the hapless parents and other family members of a youth murdered at village Chandak in Poonch about 11 months ago, have now resolved to sit on `fast unto death’ outside the Chief Minister’s residence at the winter capital.
28-year-old Mohd Ashraf, son of Mohd Abbas, resident of Chandak in Poonch, was murdered on January 23, 2016 near his residence during night. The family moved from pillar to post to seek justice but the accused could not be arrested till today.
The family members of the deceased led by his elder brother Mohd Shabir met the IGP Jammu here today and narrated their sufferings. They also revealed the `unfortunate role’ of Poonch police to solve the case and letting allow the criminals move freely even after `cold- blooded’ murder of a youth from a poor family.
The family members, who later visited Excelsior office this evening, revealed that they were surprised over the role of Poonch Police. It is unfortunate that even after setting up SIT with the intervention of IGP Jammu, the accused could not be arrested. They alleged that with the local political influence, the police was dragging feet in the case and shielding the criminals.
They sought personal intervention of DGP K. Rajindra and the IGP Jammu Danish Rana to solve the case and provide justice to the poor family. They also gave one week’s ultimatum to the State Police, failing which, the entire family will sit on `fast unto death’ outside CM’s residence at Jammu.
