JAMMU, Dec 4: Two day State Level Project Presentation of 24th National Children Science Congress 2016, was held here  at Tiny Tots Hr  Sec  School, Sainik Colony Jammu.
The program was organized by National  Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS) Jammu. About 70 projects drawn from  different districts of Jammu and Kashmir were presented by the child scientists under the focal theme ‘Science Technology and Innovation for sustainable development with special emphasis on accessibility for the persons with disabilities’.
The main purpose of the programme was  to provide a platform to the child scientist come up with the simple practical and innovative solutions to the local societical problem. The program was  supported and catalyzed by NCSTC, Deptt  of Science and Technology, Govt  of India.
The valedictory function was presided over by  Zaffar Ullah Khan, State Coordinator National Children Science Congress where as  Kavinder Gupta, Speaker of J&K Legislative Assembly,  was the chief guest and Dr  Manmohan Singh, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Jammu was the guest of honour.
Kavinder Gupta said that NCSC was  a very good platform for the  children of age 10-17 to work on the problem and finding a scientific solution and for the betterment of the society.
Dr  Manmohan Singh said that the result oriented and science based education is the dire need of the present education system.
Zaffar Ullah Khan ,  said that the mandate of the NCSC is to choose a problem related to their surroundings and thereby finding a simple but scientific solution to it so as to enhance scientific thinking and problem solving capability to the budding scientists.
Earlier,  Dr  Vikram Handa, Principal Tiny Tots Hr  Sec. School presented welcome address while   Kuldeep Gupta, State Academic Coordinator, NCSC, briefed the audience about the program.
In the end,  names  of the 16 best projects,  which will be representing Jammu and Kashmir State at the 24th National Children Science Congress,  scheduled to be held  at Baramati, Maharashtra,  were  declared.  The selected projects in junior  category are – Beg for Polythene Bag by MMI Arwani Bijbehara, Anantnag; Irrigation Management by BBS Vidyapeeth, Udhampur;  Earth-quake preparedness in red zone by Gems Public School, Anantnag;  Pesticide effects on Land Quality by Learning Ttemple English Medium School, Kathua;  Congress Grass by K.C  International School, Jammu and Waste Management by Jodhamal Public School, Jammu
In senior category,  the best outstanding projects are Helping Hand by Heritage School, Sainik Colony, Jammu;  Coin Reading Machine by SOS Herman Gmenier School, Talab Tillo, Jammu;  Giloy by Govt  Hr  Sec  School, Bahu Fort; Yellow -2 Dirty Fellow by Muslim Educational Society, Kashmir;  Helping Stick by K – Photon Science Club, Kishtwar; Lifestyle by Govt  Girls Model School, Udhampur;  Weather – Effect of Apple Plantation by Govt High School, Kokernag;  Stress of Environment Pollution by Tyndale Bisco School, Srinagar;  Safety & Preparedeness by Panorma Public Hr  Sec  School, Rajouri  and Bio Plastic by BSF Sr  Sec  School, Paloura, Jammu.
