JAMMU, Dec 4: Defeating Surinder Cricket Club by 6 wickets in a close contest, Fighters XI has joined RCC Srinagar and Sangarmal Cricket Club to be the contender for the semifinal slot in the ongoing AIKS Alcobrew Cricket League, being organised by All India Kashmiri Samaj in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police Department at Parade ground, here.
While, from Pool A, Sai Cricket Club has already sealed the semifinal berth, the semifinalist in Pool B will only be decided after making Arithmetic calculations as it is a triangular contest among the three teams of RCC Srinagar, Fighters XI and Sangarmal Cricket Club, which have secured 2 wins each in the League Phase and the topper will be decided only after calculating net run-rate and the bonus points. The topper of the Pool will be another semifinalist.
Earlier, in the last league match, Surinder Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, SCC scored a fighting total of 136 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Deepak top scored with 55 runs, while Surinder and Sanjay contributed 25 and 20 runs to the total. For Fighters XI, Vishal scalped 3 wickets, while Surinder and Vicky bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, Fighters XI chased the target in last over of the match by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Vishal scored brilliant fifty (50), while Sonu and Rajeev contributed 38 and 22 runs respectively. Rajesh, Vikas and Raju claimed one wicket each for Surinder Cricket Club. Vishal of Fighters XI was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round performance.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman and Sanjay Raina as umpires, while Sandeep Manchanda was the scorer, while the officiating panel apart from these three offcials includes Sudhir Singh, Amit Gupta, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Kuldeep Kumar and Vinod Kandyara.
