GAIL Indian Speedstar holds trials at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Dec 5:  Part of the pan India GAIL Indian Speedstar season-II, executed by the National Yuva Cooperative Society (NYCS) and technically supported by Anglian Medal Hunt Company, the day-long trials held for district Kishtwar at Chowgan ground, here today.
The trials held in two age groups of 11-14 year and 15-17 years in both boys and girls sections.  The participants had to compete in three track events of 100 mts, 200 mts and 400 mts, following the prescribed guidelines and timings.
In this day-long activity, 264 athletes, including 42 girls, turned up for trials from three districts of Ramban, Doda and hosts Kishtwar.
The outcome of the trials was selection of three athletes. They were Tanveer Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed, a ninth standard student of Furqan Academy in boys 11-14 year category. Similarly, in boys 15-17 year, 10th standard student of HSS Boys Kishtwar, Aqib Aziz son of Mohd Aziz was selected.
In girls category, no athlete could qualify in 11-14 group while, in 15-17 year category, Ruksar Ashraf daughter of Mohd Ashraf Mir of KV DPS Kishtwar was selected.
Those selected athletes were given away the certificates by chief guest, Minister of State for Sports and Transport, Sunil Sharma. The chief guest, who spent some quality time at the venue, earlier declared open the event.  He appreciated the organisers for extending an opportunity to young boys and girls from remote districts of J&K to perform and excel. Sunil Sharma distribute the certificates to the outstanding performers at Chowgan ground, Kishtwar. Anil Parihar, BJP State Secretary and Jatinder Sharma BJP leaders were also present on the occasion.
The event was held under the supervision of State Representative of NYCS J&K Sports Division, Opinder Sharma and conducted by District Representative (DR), Rajesh Kumar Sharma, who was supported by  Rashpal Sigh (DR Doda) and Devinder Singh (DR Ramban). The event was technically supervised by Gunveet Singh, who was deputed by Anglo Medal Hunt.
