SRINAGAR, Dec 10: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, today said that all Government Colleges will be connected through EDUSAT and Government Higher Secondary Schools through Information Communication Technology (ICT) link by March 2017, which will usher a new era of quality education in the State.
While speaking at the end of six-day teachers training workshop at S P School, the Minister lauded the efforts of the teachers for working in challenging circumstances for the benefit of a larger section of the society.
He said that the Government is working on the twin fronts of upgrading facilities for students and providing world class training to the teachers. He said that from ancient times Kashmir was known for its knowledge and education and it is high time that steps are taken to revive that glory. He said that with various initiatives taken by the Government, the State will show to the world that it is second to none when it comes to achievements in education.
Akhtar said that e-learning will be the main focus of the Government and already 450 schools have been put online with the help of computer aided programmes. He said that such schools are currently enjoying lectures from Pune to Delhi to Cambridge and the next step will be to initiate two-way interaction. The Minister announced that ISRO has already cooperated with the State Government and by the end of March 2017 all colleges will have functional EDUSAT link.
The Minister after watching a demonstration of training in which teachers from Srinagar and Jammu participated said that there is no doubt that the teachers of the State are best in the country. He said that the change is imminent in the education sector and teachers need to take lead in incorporating the change.
He called on the teachers to benefit from the initiatives taken by the Government and advised them to work in such a way that people are compelled to admit their wards in Government schools for better education. He said that the teachers shouldn’t shy from trying new ideas and it is these ideas that will lead us towards a progressive society.
