JAMMU, Dec 14: A one-day brain storming workshop on “Status and strategies for the management of stripe yellow rust of wheat” was conducted today at SKUAST-Jammu under State Agriculture Management Extension Training Institute (SAMETI).
The programme was aimed at increasing the wheat production in Jammu province by dissemination of latest know how on different strategies to minimize losses caused by stripe (yellow) rust among scientific community, officers of the Development Department and other stakeholders.
Dr DP Singh, Principal Scientist, Crop Protection, IIW and BR, Karnal and Dr NS Bains, Professor, Department of Plant Breeding, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, participated in the workshop. The workshop was chaired by Dr KS Risam, Director Extension SKUAST-J while Dr Ganai, Director Education, SKUAST-J, Dr DP Abrol, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture attended the meeting. Along with officers from agriculture department Jammu about 70 delegates participated in the workshop.
Dr Tuhina Dey, Senior Scientist, Division of PBG, SKUAST-Jammu (AICRP) in her lead lecture intensified the oration by highlighting the past scenario and future prospects and roles for the management of stripe rust of wheat.
