Hakla for political reservation to Gujjars

JAMMU, Dec 17: Strongly advocating for political reservation to Gujjars and Bakerwals in the State in all legislative bodies, prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual Shamsher Hakla Poonchi today said that depriving this backward community of its rights is a great injustice with them.
Hakla in an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought his intervention in the matter. He also advocated for grant of reservation in promotions to ST,SC and OBC employees in the State and said this is required to bring these categories at par with other communities.
Hakla said 25 years have gone since the GoI gave ST status to Gujjars Bakerwal community but in J&K they have been ignored of the benefits under this category which shows the callousness of the successive Governments towards these hapless people.
He expressed the hope that PM will intervene in the matter and so that these hapless people can get justice.
