JAMMU: Army today defused mortar shells on international border and the Line of Control across Jammu region.
A bomb disposal squad of Army today destroyed live mortar shell fired from Pakistan during recent ceasefire violation incidents in Ranbir Singh Pura Sector here, official sources here said.
”Army’s Bomb disposal team this afternoon destroyed live mortar shell near international border in RS Pura sector of Jammu,” he said. He said that the mortars landed in the fields close to the fence but some of them did not explode thus creating panic among the border dwellers.
However, the team after digging the fields, found live mortars and defused them on the spot under the supervision and guidance of Captain Vikas Malik.
Meanwhile unexploded Pakistani 81 mm mortar shell was also defused by the Sikh Li and Engineer units at forward village Gania in Nowshera sub division of Rajouri district this afternoon. (AGENCIES)
