JAMMU, Oct 9: Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch outclassed Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur by two goals to nil in the opening match of the Inter-Collegiate Women Hockey Tournament, which got underway at Hockey Field of University of Jammu, here today.
For GDC Poonch Chandni Sharma scored both the goals in the 30th and 41st minutes of the game.
Though the players of both the teams exhibited good skill, yet it were the players of GDC Poonch who succeeded in scoring goals.
Prof Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu, Jammu was the chief guest in the opening ceremony, while Dr Yudhvir Singh, Principal, GWC Udhampur was the guest of honour.
Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu introduced the players of the team/s and officials to the chief guest.
Among others present on the occasion were Romesh Sharma, PTI Campus, Romesh Magotra, Raj Kumar, Sham Lal Sharma, Dr Sonam Angchok, Jai Bharat and PD Singh.
