J&K girls enter semis of handball nationals

SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Scripting a convincing win over Assam by seven goals to two (7-2), J&K sailed into the semifinals of the 14th mini girls handball championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association at different venues, here.
Meanwhile, J&K boys have also made it to the quarterfinals stage in the 29th Sub Junior National Handball event.
Now, in the girls semifinals, J&K would lock horns with Delhi, while Haryana would take on Kerala tomorrow, while in the boys quarterfinals, Delhi will face Rajasthan, AP will meet UP, Maharashtra will take on Bihar and J&K will face West Bengal.
Earlier, in the girls section matches played today, Kerala thrashed Karnataka by 19 goals (30-11), Haryana trounced Odisha by one goal in a tough contest (18-17) and Delhi beat Maharastra by 12 goals (26-14).
Meanwhile, in boys section, Delhi beat Bihar by 20 goals (40-20), Rajasthan scripted a thrilling win over Punjab by one goal (28-27), West Bengal got better of MP by 8 goals (13-05) and UP outplayed Chhattisgarh by 5 goals (18-13).
