MENDHAR, Dec 27: The people held protests at three different places in Mendhar sub division today against PHE Department for its failure to ensure water supply to the general public.
A massive protest was held at Gursai Nalla where agitating people blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for three hours, from 10 am to 1 pm. They shouted slogans against PHE authorities for their failure to provide drinking water to public. They alleged that water tanks of the area remain dry and the concerned field staff was not doing its duty properly. The seniors do not monitor the work. Later, SHO Gursai and AEE PHE, Mendhar Israr Khan went to the site and gave assurance to the public and the road was then opened by the people.
Another protest was held at Saruti (Ari) from 10 am to 12 noon where agitating public blocked Saruti road for two hours. Third protest was held near Darana on Mendhar-Balakote road. Local MLA and Tehsildar Mendhar intervened and assured the people to resolve their issue. The SDM also assured the people that meeting of the PHE Civil and Mechanical officers/ staff will be held shortly to resolve the issue within a day or two.
