New Year Cricket Cup gets underway

UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: New Year Cricket Cup 2016-17, being organized by Spartans Cricket Club Udhampur got underway at Subash Stadium, here today.
In the inaugural match, United Cricket Club defeated National Cricket Club by a big margin of 79 runs.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, United Cricket Club scored a decent total of 169 runs. Gourav Khajuria scored a brilliant century (104) runs off 63 balls and Paramjeet Singh scored 39 runs off 43 balls. For National Cricket Club, Simpu took 3 wickets.
In reply, National Cricket Club bundled out for a paltry total of 90 runs, thus lost the match by 79 runs. For United Cricket Club, Ashwani and Anjum took 2 wickets each.
Ram Parshotam, National Conference leader was the chief guest on the opening function, who interacted with players and shared his views on the game of cricket.
This Tournament was organized by Spartans Cricket Club, under the supervision of Arjun Mahajan and Inder Gupta, its skipper and manager respectively.
Abhinav Buccha and Bharat Choudhary officiated the match as umpires, while Naresh Singh Bandral was the scorer.
