Sabhi CC Hoshiarpur, Minerva Club Chandigarh sail into semis

KATHUA, Jan 3: Defeating their rivals convincingly in the quarterfinal matches, Sabhi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur and Minerva Cricket Club Chandigarh sealed berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 7th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone Inter-Club T20 Cricket Championship, being organized by Police Martyrs Welfare Committee, Kathua at Sports Stadium, here.
In the 2nd quarterfinal match, Road Safety XI Kashmir won the toss and chose to field first.  Batting first, Sabhi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur set a target of 152 runs by losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Amit and Akhil scored 52 and 31runs respectively. For Road Safety XI, Abid Nabi was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 wickets by conceding 23runs in 4 overs.  In reply, Road Safety XI Kashmir could not chase the target and managed to score 109 runs in 17.5 overs, thus lost the match by 42 runs. Pankaj Ladda top scored with 48 runs off 40 balls. Hitesh of Sabhi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 important wickets by conceding just 12 runs in his 4 overs. Hitesh was declared as man of the match and was presented a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and a trophy by Ghan Shyam Sharma.
In the 3rd quarterfinal, Minerva Cricket Club Chandigarh won the toss and elected to bat first to set a huge target of 204 runs by losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Tajinder Singh scored 59 runs each.  Shivam of Vidhya Jain Cricket Club Delhi took 3 wickets by conceding 32 runs.
In reply, Vidhya Jain Cricket Club Delhi could not chase the target and managed to score only 110 runs in 15.1 overs. Deepak was the top scorer with 44  runs.  Naveed Hussain, Gurkeerat Mann and Vinay Choudhary of Minerva Cricket Club Chandigarh took 2 wickets each. Gurkeerat Singh Mann was declared as the man of the match with a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and a trophy by Kartar Singh, President Rajput Sabha, Kathua.
The matches were officiated by Sudhir Singh and Amit Gupta as umpires, while the proceeding of matches was conducted by Ravinder Slathia, President Police Martyrs Welfare Committee, Kathua.
