Man held with banned forest produce

JAMMU, Jan 4: Police arrested a man along with banned forest produce from Shastri Nagar.
As per police sources, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station laid a naka at Shastri Nagar and asked a pedestrian to stop for chceking.
On seeing police cops, the man tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered one kilograms banned forest produce (keeda jadhi) from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Gulzar Ahmed, son of Mohammad Sultan of Billawar District Kathua.
The arrested person along with seized forest produce has been handed over to Forest Department for proceeding under Forest Act.
Police team led by SI Tariq Ahmed from Gandhi Nagar police station made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Inspector Bishnesh Kumar, SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
