JU organizes international seminar on ‘progressive trends in poetry of Galib’

JAMMU, Jan 7: During the one day international seminar on  “progressive trends in the poetry of Mirza Galib”.  which was organized here today by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu,  speakers threw light on different dimensions of  this  greatest poet of Urdu world,  who projected the realities of life not only in his Urdu and Persian poetry but also in his prose.
In his detailed key note address, Dr Taki Abdi form Canada,  described Galib as not only a universal poet but also a progressive one. Dr Taki Abdi who is considered expert on Mirza Galib,  said that there is a dame need to re-discover  Galib and described him as poet of humanism.  “There are  two shades of poetry of Mirza Galib, one Urdu and other  Persian . The scholar should work on Galib’s different shades of poetry particularly his progressiveness,” he suggested.
Veteran writer Mohd Yousif Taing,  who presided over the inaugural function,  too  described Galib a tall Urdu poet who had written Urdu poetry on different dictions and themes.
Prof. Desh Bandu,  Dean Academic Affairs, who was chief guest on the occasion and   Dean Research Studies,  Jigar Mohd,  also spoken on the occasion.
Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik HoD Urdu,  threw light on the aims and objectives of the seminar.
Later two academic session were held,  in which delegates from Japan, Iran, Egypt and Canada presented their paper on the subject. A question answer session was also held in which audience asked various question to the paper presenters. The Academic sessions were presided over by Dr Aqeel Ahmed, Bashir Bhaderwahi, Aseer Kishtwari and Prof Khwaja Ekram-ud-Din.
