UDHAMPUR, Jan 11: J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today held a protest demonstration against the State Government demanding immediate payment of pending pension in favour of old age, widows and handicap persons in the district.
Led by Balwant Singh Mankotia, president, JKNPP, hundreds of Panthers party activists stage protest and raised slogans against the Government for not releasing pension to the old aged, widows and handicapped persons for last many months.
Addressing the protesting party activists, Mankotia said that even after the clear direction of High Court J&K that pension to all category including old age people, widows and handicapped shall be released Rs 1000 per month with effect from April 2016, Government is not providing the much needed aid to these people even after the lapse of more than 10 months.
The panther’s party activists took out protest march from Slathia Chowk up to Deputy Commissioner Office, Udhampur and also submitted a memorandum in this regard. Mankotia told that in the district more than 50 % people are without Aadhaar Card while social welfare department is pressuring the aggrieved persons to produce Aadhaar Card for release of pension.
DC Udhampur assured the public that their Aadhaar Card and Pension issue will be settled at the earliest. He also issued direction to district social welfare officer of Udhampur to settle the issue without any further delay.
