JKAACL organises multi cultural meet in regional languages

NOWSHERA, Jan 13: To promote  regional languages of the State, a day long  literary and cultural meet was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, here at Degree College Nowshera .
A galaxy of writers, poets, intellectuals  representing local ethos of  Gojri, Pahari, Dogri , Kashmiri and Punjabi participated in this intra-median intra-cultural function.
Harbans Lal Sharma Sub Divisional Magistrate Nowshera  presided over the function while Dr Javaid Rahi Chief Editor of JKAACL, prominent  poet and writer  K K Khaki were  in the presidium.
Sharma appreciated the Academy for holding such a prestigious function for promotion of regional languages.
He suggested that Academy should organise Poonch-Rajouri  cultural conferences  at Nowshera  and local administration  support the event. He said that the spectrum of  local languages  is very vast and Academy should reach to each area and cover this cherished heritage.
Earlier, Dr Javaid Rahi, in his welcome address stated  this programme was organized  with the aim  to develop intra cultural understandings among people of twin border districts – Rajouri -Poonch.
In his address K K Khaki  said that  Poonch-Rajouri districts  possess  strong roots and writer community should strive hard to enrich the literary tradition of this important tribal language.
During the meet a regional multilingual cultural programme was held wherein 12 music groups performed. These include Ishfaq Mir and Party, Jogender Sharma and Party, Jasmeet Kour and Party, Nazia and Party.
Multi-lingual  Mushaira was held and 12  local poets representing Dogri, Gojri , Pahari , Urdu , Hindi and Punjabi participated and recited their latest poetry.
The main attraction of the event was the dance and theatre perfomance programme. All the sessions were appreciated by the audiences.
