SAMBA, Oct 12: The Block-Level Inter-Panchayat Competitions, under the Centrally Sponsored PYKKA began in all four blocks of Samba, here today.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the overall supervision of Jarpal Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Samba.
According to a handout issued here 172 players participated in Block Samba, 217 in Vijaypur, 160 in Ghagwal and 145 in Purmandal.
The tournament is being held in the disciplines of football, athletics, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, wushu and wrestling.
In football, Panchayat Kehli Mandi defeated Supwal by (3-0), in hockey, Kehli Mandi blanked Thalora by (3-0), in kho-kho, Sarain defeated Patyari by 8 points.
In 100 mts Under-16 boys, Sangram Sambyal of Kehli Mandi claimed gold, while in 400 mts, Varun Sharma of Supwal bagged gold and in 800 mts Ganesh Kumar of Sarna claimed gold. The 1500 mts gold went to Rahul Singh of Sarain and 3000 mts gold was bagged by Jagdev Singh of Sarna.
The kabaddi and wushu events were also held on day-1 of this two days tournament.
