18 climbers selected in talent hunt programme

JAMMU, Oct 12: As a part of series of coaching cum competitions planned by Mountaineering Association of J&K for individual schools to spot the talent at the grass root level the inaugural coaching cum competition was organised for the students of Sprawling Buds School at the Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing wall in the School premises.
A total of 69 students including 25 girls in the age group of 8 to 12 years participated in the day long competition. The climbers, some of them participating  in their maiden competition exhibited good power and technique and temperament. Consequently, the Association has selected 18 climbers including 6 girls for further coaching.
Selected climbers:
Boys: Deepak Verma, Vikrant, Abhishek, Vishav Kumar, Mehmood Raza,Sanyam, Ritesh,Rudra Pratap, Randeep, Pragun,Manan and Shoib.
Girls; Asma Gul, Suneha, Bhumika, Vibhuti, Diya Koul and Anshu Pandita.
The school management presented track suits to Deepak Verma and Anshu Pandita for their overall good performance and Chalk Bags to Asma Gul, Suneha,Bhumika who secured the first three positions in the girls category and Vikrant and Abhishek who bagged the second and third places in the Boys category.
The coaching cum competition was conducted by Anil Kumar and Shashi Kant, both senior climbers and Poonam Mishra, a sport climbing Judge under the overall supervision of Ram Khajuria, General Secretary of the Mountaineering Association of J&K.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Principal of the school, Puja Datta, Directors of the School Rahul Sharma, Arti Sharma and Savita Khajuria.
