SRINAGAR, Jan 18: In the ongoing district winter sports Championships the Distrct Winter Games Association of Srinagar began its Ski Championship at Gulmarg today under the aegis of WGAJK.
Nearly 40 skiers took part in the Championship.
The competitions were held in Giant Slalom in senior, Junior II, Junior I, and Children II categories today.
The Championship was inaugurated by Malik Reyaz, General Manager Cable Car and Shabir Ahmad Wani, Assistant Director Youth Services and Sports.
The gold medal winners in senior men, junior boys, sub junior boys and sub junior girls were Tahir Shafi, Raja Nihaal, Syed Sajid Raza and Asfa Qureshi respectively, while the silver medals in these categories went to Yasir rather, Younis Mohammad Dar, Mudashir and Muskan Lateef respectively and the bronze medals were claimed by Reyaz Ahmad, Mohammad Shahdab, Mustafa and Shemail respectively.
The other skiers who successfully qualified in various age categories and were given consolation prizes included Nowsheen Bilal, Sana Afzal, Mansub Mushtaq, Syed Hasmiz and Sheikh Hamid.
Tomorrow the competitions will be held in Slalom event in the same categories.
Arif Khan acted as Course Setter.
The General Secretary of WGAJK said that next round of Championship will be held for District Baramulla and District Kupwara.
