SRINAGAR, Feb 2:Security forces today averted a major tragedy by detecting and defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A patrol party of police detected the IED planted by militants between Kadlabal and Chursoo section of the National Highway this morning.
The Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to the spot which destroyed the explosive.
In the meantime, militants fled out of cordon in Bandipora area of North Kashmir this morning.
Police and Army’s 14 RR launched a cordon and search operation at Mantrigam area of Bandipora early today. Militants, however, fled from the spot.
Massive searches were also conduced in Hyder Mohalla Khawaja Bagh area of Baramulla district by Police and Army’s 46 RR after inputs about presence of militants in the area today. However, no one was arrested.
