JAMMU: Urging the youth to inculcate scientific learning temperament in their day to day lives, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta said that curiosity and questioning are two essential pillars for mental growth of the children.
The Speaker said this during the valedictory function for Science Carnival ‘Vigyan Uday’ on the theme ‘Science for the development of Nation’, held at Banyan International School, here today.
Kavinder Gupta, while addressing the gathering of students and teachers, said that it is the responsibility of adults to encourage students to question things, and develop curiosity in their minds which will help them grow into their chosen fields of study.
He said that similar programmes should be regularly organised for providing a platform to the young students to exhibit their hidden scientific talent. He also inspected the prototypes and appreciated the students for their excellent display of scientific creativity beyond the boundaries of their classrooms.
Expressing happiness over the participation and enthusiasm of students towards technological research and scientific creativity, the Speaker exhorted upon participants to maintain a healthy balance between science and humanity in their life. He also gave away the prizes to the winning teams.
The event saw participation of over 25 teams from 20 different institutions including government schools and Polytechnic colleges. The event had participants showcase various ways of conserving energy through prototypes of futuristic technology.
SOS Hermann School was declared winner for the first prize, the second prize was bagged by Women Government Polytechnic Technical and the third prize was claimed by Guru Harkishan Public School.
