KATHUA, Feb 4: Mystery shrouded a jawan of Border Security Force (BSF) 97 Bn, who is reportedly missing from his Border Out Post (BOP) Pansar in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district under suspicious circumstance since evening of February 1.
According to SSP Kathua, Pawan Parihar, BSF jawan identified as Constable Malsawkima, ,25, number 131297023 S/o T Lalbiakmuna, was reportedly missing since February 1 from the BOP Pansar in Hiranagar border belt.
He said the constable is resident of Pukdni, district Lungle in Mizoram and the matter was reported in Police Post Marheen on February 2 by Sub Inspector Antal Kumar Coy Cdr of D Coy of 97 Bn BSF.
The SSP Kathua said soon after the matter was reported to police it launched the search operations by fanning out the police parties in different areas to trace the missing constable. However, no clue has been received so far. Ruling out any sabotage, he said, adding there is no report of missing of any weapon from BOP.
He said police is also in touch with his family in Mizoram and they too have no clue about him. However, they assured as soon as they get any clue about the constable they will contact the Kathua police, the SSP added.
The SSP said in case he had gone to his home State it will take some time to him to reach there as Mizoram is a far away place from here. However, police is on the job to trace out him.
The SSP ruled out that the constable might have crossed over the border saying the same is not possible as entire border belt in Hiranagar sector has been totally fenced and there is no possibility of his crossing over to other side of border.
He said there can be any compulsion which forced him to flee but at this time nothing can be said as he has not maintained any contact with his family so far.
