JAMMU, Oct 14: Air Force Station Jammu organized a Cultural and Musical Night on Saturday as part of the week-long celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Air Force Day, when the valiant Indian Air Force came into being. Founded on October 8, 1932, the Indian Air Force is today recognized world-wide, as a highly professional, avante grade technology-intensive force with highly skilled human resource base, distinguished by its commitment to excellence in all spheres, that makes a lethal man-machine combination.
During the past eight decades of its existence, the IAF has woven a rich saga of courage and valour, replete with numerous acts of truly inspiring heroic deeds, by its skilled pilots in active combat situations.
The function was inaugurated by Air Commodore P E Patange, the Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jammu and Mamta Patange, President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local) by lighting the traditional lamp.
The variety entertainment programme unfolded thereafter, weaving a rich cultural trapestry reflecting the spirit of patriotism, through the inspirational music that evoked nostalgia, and kept the audience glued, to their seats.
The function was organized under the guidance of Chief Administrative Officer of the station, Group Captain S Pati, and Wg Cdr VVJ Rao, the Chief Organiser. The various items performed by the personnel and families of the Air Force Station, Jammu and the children of the Air Force School Jammu, were witnessed and enjoyed by an overwhelming crowd.
At the end of the function, Mrs. Mamta Patange gave away the prizes to participants. Air Commodore P E Patange, in his concluding address, appreciated the performers, encouraging the world’s best Air Warriors for soft skills of art and humanity distinctly visible in the function.
