JAMMU, Feb 9: Minister for Information Technology (IT), Technical Education & Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari today said that the Government will soon introduce Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) Scheme as a part of its policy to promote sports activities in the State.
The Minister was interacting with the representatives of J&K Unemployed Physical Education & Sports Association (JKUPESA), who called on him here today.
The Minister said that the Government was serious in introducing Rehbar-e-Khel scheme (ReK) under which trained physical education youth would be provided opportunity to serve as the promoters of sports activities at different levels. He said there are about 7311 trained unemployed physical youth whose services could be used to serve the purpose. He further said in the first phase, the Government is engaging 1500 ReKs adding that the matter with regard to their remuneration has already been taken up with the Finance Minister.
“The implementation of Rehbar-e-Khel forms one of the major sports promotion initiatives being taken by the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti” he added.
Listing various initiatives taken in this regard, the Minister said that grooming talented youth in sports of their interest is going on to prepare them for National and International competitions.
Responding to the demands put forth by the JKUPESA, the Minister assured them that the selection of ReKs will be made purely on merit basis.
While hailing the initiatives, the Association thanked Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti and the sports Minister Mulvi Imran Ansari for introducing Rehbar-e-Khel scheme in the State.
