JAMMU, Mar 4: The activists of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) staged protest against Modi Government for the recent price hike of LPG cylinders, here today.
A large number of Youth Congress activists under the leadership of Pankaj Basotra, Paramjit Singh, Sheikh Amir Rasool, State general secretaries and Th Hoshiar Singh Chib Lok Sabha president, Youth Congress assembled outside Press Club here in the morning and raised slogans against Modi Government and also burnt the effigy of the Prime Minister.
Youth Congress activists also blocked road near Dogra Chowk for some time but police intervened and cleared the road. They were shouting loud slogans against BJP and PM Modi.
While addressing the Congress activists Basotra said that the Pradesh Youth Congress is the frontal organization of the party and its office bearers and volunteers are holding demonstrations, rallies, awareness campaigns to sensitize people on the anti-people plans of the BJP Government at the Centre as per the direction of PYC president Pranav Shagotra.
He said that sharp hike in the price of LPG has been witnessed and this is the new gift of Modi Govt of `Achhe Din’ to the people. He said without considering the needs of the common man, it is return gift to the people who funded the campaign of Narendra Modi. The story of good days is reaching to its diagonally opposite end with the rise in LPG prices now all slated to miserably affect everyday lives. This will have severe impact on poor people because poor households spend more than half of their income on food.
Sheikh Amir said hike in the price of LPG is also a clear indication that the Government is slowly striving to give up its social responsibilities and let market forces decide the fate and destiny of common man. Modi led Government’s undue zeal to cut on fiscal deficit at the cost of everyday lives of common man and farmers of the country clearly puts down the priority of the BJP and the present government. The government is interested in the benefits of the corporate and not the welfare of the people.
Prominent among others present included Shabir Kohli, Deviansh Jamwal, Sumit Sharma LYC Secys, Kushwant Singh, Dayal Singh, Vijay Tagotra AYC presidents, Vikrant Khajuria, Parteek Singh, Mohd Rafi and SS Langeh.
