JAMMU, Mar 4: Three persons including an official of J&K police were killed while a youth was injured in four separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, at about 8.30 this morning, a rashly driven bus bearing registration number JK02S-1477 hit a scooty number JK02BN-3928 on BC Road near Shakuntla, resulting into serious injuries to an ASI of J&K police namely Ramesh Chander (50) son of Hardutt, resident of Roop Nagar and a Constable identified as Sadiq Ahmed (40) of Udhampur.
“The injured cops were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where ASI Ramesh succumbed to his injuries at about 10.40 AM”, he said, adding, after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the cop was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. He said that both the cops were presently posted at Police Line Jammu.
Another mishap occurred tonight at Narwal, where a speeding truck bearing registration number HR46E-0771 crushed to death a woman, who fell down on the road, as a bike on which she was travelling along with his son lost balance. The body of the deceased woman, who was identified as Bimla Devi (47) wife of Babu Ram, resident of Rani Talab (Digiana), was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH for autopsy. Police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
In a hit and run case occurred late last night, a speeding tipper crushed to death a nomad girl and her two buffaloes and injured another buffalo at Domana on Jammu-Akhnoor Road, when a caravan of the nomads was on its way from Jammu to Akhnoor. The deceased girl was identified as Sadia Bano (16) daughter of Hussain Bano, resident of Gujjar Basti, Javed Nagar (Nikki Tawi), Jammu. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was today handed over to her legal heirs for last rites. Domana police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
A youth identified as Mandeep Singh (22) son of Manjeet Singh, resident of Nanak Nagar, sustained injuries when the bike he was riding, got slipped today at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. He was hospitalized.
