LONDON, Mar 5: Supermodel Gigi Hadid says she stepped into fashion industry with so much awareness and confidence because her mother had helped her understand how things work in the glamour world.
The 21-year-old star, who is currently the face of Tommy Hilfiger, says her mother, Yolanda Hadid, a former model, taught her the importance of “hard work” in the fashion industry, reported Femalefirst.
“One of the reasons why I have to thank her (mother) is that I’ve come to the fashion industry world without illusions: she told me everything to prepare me. She told me about casting in terrible and humid basements in London.
“She told me about other models who cut your tail during the night before the show. When the supermodels of the 90s say that we are not like them they say something true. We were born in different times but we work hard too. In different ways,” Hadid tells an Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera.
The runway star continues, “I was one of the first ones who started this thing, who started to communicate through social media, but I made it with my mentality, or actually the mentality my mom gave me.
“If you are not the girl who is working harder than the other girls there will be one more beautiful than you, one who is going to work harder than you.” (PTI)
