KISHTWAR, Mar 6: The Kishtwar town observed bandh over shifting of various offices established in old DC office complex to outside town.
All the business establishments in the district remained closed on the call given by Beopar Mandal and traffic also remained off the road today.
The people from civil society and members of Beopar Mandal took out a rally and staged sit in protest infront of old DC office complex.
The protesters were demanding not to shift the offices established in the old DC complex including treasury, a branch of J&K Bank established especially for pensioners and record room.
The decision to shift the old DC office and handing it over to the judiciary was taken by the District Administration on the direction of High Court of Jammu, one of the protester said, adding that the shifting of the offices will cause great inconvenience to the people especially old age people.
They said that they do not oppose the swapping of the premises with consent of all concerned but shifting of offices from old DC office complex to out of town will not be tolerated at any cost, the protestors said and threatened to start agitation if their demand is not resolved.
During the protest, some local issues including regular water and power supply, scarcity of ration, road connectivity, shortage of doctors in district and peripheral hospital, etc.
