JAMMU, Mar 6: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest at New Plot on Janipur Road against non-availability of ration at depots for last six months.
Led by Sunil Dimple, JWAM president, a large number of people including aged and youth came on road at New Plot, raising slogans against the CAPD Department. The protesting people also disrupted vehicular traffic for some time.
They criticized the State Government for unilaterally increasing the rates of atta and rice in ration depots besides its failure to ensure adequate supply of ration in ration depots. They also criticized the Central Government for its failure to control the rising prices of LPG, petrol, diesel, edibles oils, atta, vegetables, milk and milk products.
Protesters shouted slogans against the CAPD Ministry, BJP-PDP Government, sitting BJP ministers, MLAs and MPs for doing injustice with the poor BPL families by remaining mum on rising prices of essential commodities and on cabinet approval of 3 litres kerosene oil to poor families.
Addressing the protesters Sunil Dimple served 24 hour ultimatum to the CAPD Minister Zulfkar Ali and the Directorate of CAPD to restore the ration supply within 24 hours in Jammu city and roll back the increased rates of dairy products, curd, milk, cheese, and atta and rice on Government Ration depots.
