JAMMU, Mar 9: 43rd Inter-Collegiate Annual Athletic Meet (M&W) 2016-17, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, concluded at Sports Stadium, University of Jammu, here today.
Men and women athletes drawn from 28 affiliated Colleges participated in the event and vied for the top honours.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Dilbag Singh, ADGP Security was the guest of honour, who also presided over the function. The chief guest and the guest of honour distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion.
Earlier, Prof Avtar Singh Jasroita, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presented welcome address. Prominent among were Prof Desh Bandhu, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu, Prof Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfares, Prof Kulwant Singh, Prof Jasbir Singh, Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Prof Kuldip Singh Charak, Dr Anupma Vohra, HS Chib, Kuldeep Magotra, Dr Vinod Bakshi, Sumnesh Sharma, Ajaz Ahmed, Sudesh Bhagat, Physical Director, Mahesh Sharma, Balbir Singh, Monika, Narayani Jamwal, Mandeep Singh, Tanvir Ahmed, and Vijay Kumari.

200 Meters (Women): Narmita, GCW Gandhi Nagar-31:40 M (Gold); Tayiba, GCW Parade -34:31 M (Silver); Pooja Sharma, PG Deptt.-34:41 M (Bronze). 200 Meters (Men): Rajan Sharma, GGM Science College- 24:72 M (Gold); Akram Ali, PG Deptt.- 24:97 M (Silver); Ishtaq, SPMR College of Commerce-23:56 M (Bronze)
5000 Meters (Women): Pooja Devi, GCW Billawar-25:01.96 (Gold); Stanzin Kunsar, GCW Parade-26:06.32 (Silver); Keshu Devi, PG Deptt.-26:21.02 (Bronze).
5000 Meters (Men): Ankush Sharma, GDC Udhampur-17:07.34 (Gold); Mohd Shafi, GDC Rajouri- 17:31.09 (Silver); Mohd Arif, GDC Thanamandi-17:32.30 (Bronze).

4×400 Mtrs Relay Race (Men): SPMR College of Commerce,-3:40.59 Mtrs (Gold); PG Deptt.-3:46.62 Mtrs (Silver); MAM College,- 3:51.88 Mtrs (Bronze)
100 Meters (Men): Rajan Sharma, GGM Science College- 11.84 (Gold); Ishtaq, SPMR College of Commerce- 11.94 (Silver); Akram Ali, PG Deptt.-11.97 (Bronze).
100 Meters (Women): Narmita Katoch, GCW Gandhi Nagar-14.44 (Gold); Tayiba, GCW Parade-15.78 (Silver); Pooja Sharma, PG Deptt.-15.80 (Bronze).
Meanwhile, PG Department claimed overall Championship in men’s section, while the overall Championship in women’s section went to GCW Gandhi Nagar.
Rajan Sharma and Narmita Katoch were adjudged as best athletes.
The events were officiated by Nirmal Singh, Gautam Sharma, VIkesh Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Chamel Singh, Vinay Manhas, Anil Sharma, Harvinder Singh, besides B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed students.
