JAMMU, Mar 19: Minister of State for Sports and Transport, Sunil Sharma advocated for promoting wrestlers and the sport of wrestling in nooks and corners of the State.
The Minister said that the Summer Camp of J&K Wrestling Championship will be held at Chenab Valley viz-a-viz Doda, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah.
The Sports Minister was speaking on the valedictory function of 2-day J&K State Wrestling Championship, organized by J&K Wrestling Association, under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association at Banjrangi Akhara, Shalimar, here today.
He said that sports and games help youth not to fall prey to drug addiction and allied evils and not to derail from the mainstream.
The Minister also said that the Banjrangi Akhara, Shalimar Road, Jammu will be repaired by way of fabrication.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Narinder Mahajan, Vice President of the Association, Kuldeep Sharma, Vice president, Vijay Phalwan, Vice President ,Ajay Vaid, General Secretary, Pradeep Sharma, President Bajrangi Akhara/ President trade Association Shalimar, Raju Sharma Treasurer, Deeraj Sharma, Vikas Gupta, Vijay Atri, Dr. Kamal Kumar and Vijay Kumar.
The bouts were officiated by Jai Bharat, Kulvir Singh, Gobind Singh and Ravinder Sharma.
About 150 wrestlers from the districts of Jammu, Kathua, Doda, Udhampur, Rajori, Samba Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla. Earlier, Dushyant Sharma, President J&K Wrestling Association presented welcome address, while vote of thanks was presented by Ajay Vaid, General Secretary J&K Wrestling Association.
The overall Championship of the event went to J&K Police.
