POONCH, Mar 20: The members of Gujjar and Bakerwal communities today held protest demonstration against MLA Mendhar today.
A large number of members of Gujjar and Bakerwal communities led by two local members of J&K Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board, Mohd Sadiq Choudhary and Zahida Choudhary (from PDP) assembled at Shahidi Yadgar Mendhar at around 11 am today and started protest demonstration. They continued their protest demonstration for over two hours.
They were shouting slogans against MLA Mendhar from National Conference, Javed Rana for allegedly scuttling the development works under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). They alleged that due to MLA, works worth over Rs 14 crores under STP have been scuttled in entire district Poonch.
Later, at around 1 pm, they took out protest rally towards the office of SDM Mendhar and held brief protest demonstration there. They also discussed the issue with the SDM and submitted a representation to him. Then the protesters dispersed.
SDM Mendhar, Rahul Yadav when contacted said that the members of the ST community after protest came to his office complex. They expressed their concern over the non-utilisation of funds under TSP. They also brought to his notice that due to some litigation the funds under the Tribal Sub Plan for the STs of the area could not be utilized. After conveying their concern they dispersed.
