Srinagar, Mar 23: Police today cane charged protesting Sakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) employees who were demanding regularisation of their services and immediate release of their pending salaries.
Scores of employees working as coordinators under Sakshar Bharat Mission assembled here near Poloview and held strong demonstration against alleged failure of Government to draft a job policy in their favour. “Government is playing hide and seek with our future as there is no concrete job policy for the employees working under the programme,” the protesters said.
The protesters also demanded immediate release of their pending salaries and alleged that government is deliberately pushing their families to starvation. “Our meager salary of Rs 2000 is a liability for the Government. The government has not paid a single penny to the SBM employees from last four years which has lead plunged us into starvation and distress”, the protestors said.
The protesters also said that it’s unfortunate that in response of their “hard work the department has circulated an ordered that the infrastructure available at our adult education centre should be handed over to the teachers of concerned school”. We were expecting a reward from the Government as we completed the basic literacy target given to us,” the protesters said.
