JAMMU, Mar 23: A combined annual training camp for cadets of J&K is being conducted by 3 J& K battalion NCC, Baramulla at Nagrota from March 17 to 26, 2017 under the Group HQ Srinagar and NCC Directorate Jammu.
The camp aims to impart collective training to cadets, provide them an opportunity to experience community living, and to co-operate and work together. It also aimed at inculcating leadership qualities, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship amongst the Cadets. The camp is being attended by more than 300 NCC cadets from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Through this camp, cadets are also being prepared for the “B” and “C” Certificate examinations, which gain them additional avenues for employment in the Armed Forces and various Central Government Services besides pursuing higher education. Cadets are also selected for further participation in future NCC activities, which are conducted at the National level.
The activities during the camp included training on various subjects according to the NCC curriculum, competitions like firing and drill, cultural activities to help cadets keep rooted to their traditions and sports and games, to develop a love for the outdoors and sportsmanship.
On March 21, 2017, the NCC cadets were fortunate to audience one of the bravest of the brave sons of India, Sub Major and Honorary Capt Bana Singh, PVC who has been bestowed with Nation’s highest gallantry award, Param Veer Chakra during Operation Meghdoot. Bana Singh stole the show by delivering an inspiring narrative of the incident in which he was awarded this highest award.
Later, the ADG, NCC, Maj Gen Nilendra Kumar felicitated this special guest and described him as one of the sincerest son which every nation would be proud of. He also interacted with each and every NCC cadet.
A dog show was also organised by the Indian Army Remount and Veterinary Corps Nagrota for the NCC cadets which gave an insight to the cadets regarding the various other facets of the Army.
