Mountaineering Asso to organize sport climbing competition for visually challenged

JAMMU, Mar 29: A sport climbing competition for visually challenged children will be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Lakshmi Puram, Jammu at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing wall in the school premises.
Whereas competition for girls will be conducted on April 1, 2017 and for the boys it will be organized on April 4, 2017.
About 50 boys and girls are expected to participate in the 1st such official competition. The competition shall be held in only 2 categories of Boys and Girls on ‘Top rope’.
After the competition a 6 member team comprising 3 girls and 3 boys shall be selected to represent the state in the 1st North Zone Sport Climbing Competition for Visually Challenged Children scheduled to be organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, North Zone Committee in IMF complex, New Delhi on April 17, 2017.
The selected climbers shall also be imparted proper coaching by a trainer for 10 days before their departure for Delhi. Besides their own escorts, the climbers shall also be accompanied by a coach and a lady manager.
