State Winter Games conclude at Gulmarg

GULMARG, Apr 4: The State Winter Games-2017 concluded here at famous Ski Resort, here.
13 races in three snow based sports were held on the concluding day at Kongdori, here.
More than 140 boys and girls representing different districts of the state took part in this scintillating sporting event. Competitions in Slalom race of Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding were held under the supervision of Shri Dhanbahadur, while 10 km Nordic Skiing race was held under the supervision of Olympian Nadeem Ahmad.
MLA Gulmarg and President Winter Games Association of J&K, Mohammad Abass Wani was Chief Guest and Malik Riyaz Ahmad General Manager J&K Cable Car Corporation was Guest of Honour on the concluding function.
In his speech, Mr Abass said that the efforts of the Association are afoot to host National Junior Alpine Ski Championship at Gulmarg and expressed his gratitude to J&K State Sports Council, Tourism Deptt, J&K Cable Car Corporation, High Altitude Warfare School and Gulmarg Development Authority for extending their full support to make the endeavor of WGAJK a grand success. He further informed that the association conducted number of activities this winter and kept the youth engaged for a longer period.
Those boys and girls who performed exceptionally well were selected for future National level Coaching camps and championships. Early selection of teams would help to organize rigorous coaching camps at the beginning of new winter season in 2018. The athletes expressed their delight for holding State level competitions after long gape.
