JAMMU, Apr 5: Up in arms against alleged discrimination with the Jammu region candidates in recent selection of 10 Plus 2 Lecturers for the School Education Department, National Secular Forum (NSF) today held a protest demonstration against Public Service Commission.
Shouting slogans, the protesting NSF activists also torched an effigy of the JKPSC and demanded separate Statehood to Jammu for a permanent solution against alleged discriminatory approach of the Kashmir centric State Government and its various agencies.
The protest demonstration was addressed by NSF State president Dr Vikas Sharma, who stressed that Statehood for Jammu was the only way out to end 67 years long discrimination with the people at Jammu region.
Dr Vikas said that out of total 34 posts of 10+2 Lecturers in Urdu, 30 candidates have been selected from Kashmir and only 4 from Jammu. In the RBA category out of total 11 posts, 7 candidates are from Kashmir province and 4 from Jammu.
Similarly, he added, out of total 29 posts of Lecturer in English, 25 candidates have been selected from Kashmir and 4 candidates selected from Jammu while in the RBA category, 7 selected candidates, out of total 10 posts, are from Kashmir province and 3 from Jammu.
Dr Vikas Sharma reminded similar discrimination was seen in the selection of Assistant Professors for various subjects in the Higher Education Department, where the share of Jammu was almost negligible.
The NSF leader also flayed the PDP-BJP Coalition Government for encouraging this step-motherly approach towards Jammu people by maintaining a stoic silence on the issue. Alleging that people of Jammu were facing worst kind of discrimination at the hands of Kashmiri rulers, he reiterated his demand for Statehood to Jammu and appealed people of this region to get united for launching a comprehensible struggle to get rid of all the ills.
