JAMMU, Apr 7: The Unive-rsity of Jammu teams won the Table-Tennis (Men & Women) and Cricket (Women) Tournam-ents of the ongoing 1st State Universities Sports Champio-nships, being organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu at the University Sports Stadium, here.
Dr. Dharminder Magotra JR (Finance) University of Jammu was the Chief Guest of the Table-Tennis (Men& Women) final match.
Among others present on the occasion were Dr KA Tarzan Director Sports, Islamic Unive-rsity of Science & Technology, Mahesh Sharma and Ajaz Malik Physical Directors, Dr Rajendra Lal Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Jammu, Kuldeep Magotra, HS. Chib, Aajaz Ahmed Qureshi SKUAST (K), Vijay Magotra, Anchal Singh, Mohammad Din (Dy. Director Sports GBSBU Rajouri), Vipan Thappa, Coach of GBSBU, Satish Gupta, Romesh Sharma, Dr. Brij Baloria, Ramesh Magotra and staff of the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The Championship is being organized under the overall supervision of Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Organizing Secretary & Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
In Table Tennis (Men) final, Jammu University beat SMVDU Katra by 3-0 sets, while in Table Tennis (Women) title clash, Jammu University defeated SMVDU Katra by 3-0 sets.
The 3rd place in men’s section went toBGSBU Rajouri by beating Central University Jammu by 3-2 sets.
The match was officiated by Rekha Ratra, Rahul Bakshi, Amit Sharma, Gourav Sharma and Ravish Vaid.
In Football (Men) University of Kashmir defeated SKUAST Kashmir by (3-1).
The match was officiated by Moon Stephen, Dheeraj Menia, Rahul Sharma, Arun Kumar and Gagan Kumar.
In Cricket (Women), University of Jammu defeated BGSBU Rajouri by 10 wickets in the summit clash to lift the title.
In Cricket (Men), University of Jammu drubbed NIT Kashmir by 22 runs in the first semifinals to seal berth in the finals, while in another semifinal, University of Kashmir got better of BGSBU Rajouri by 8 wickets.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Suresh Singh, Vijay Kumar and Vinod.
