MHAC holds Workshop to prevent childhood obesity

JAMMU, Apr 7: In an attempt to create awareness regarding consumption of healthy food, a one-day Workshop was organized for class 8th students at MHAC School, Nagbani, here.
Dr Rekha Harish, Prof & Head Department of Pediatrics, Chairperson Indian as well as American Academy of Pediatrics (IAP & AAP) along with Dr Sushil Sharma, Consultant Department of Pediatrics, Dr Kishour Kumar Digra consultant Department of Pediatrics & Dr Rajinder Singh Resident Doctor Department of Pediatrics acted as Resource Persons in this programme.
Principal MHAC School, Sween Puri presented welcome address. The children were shown a PowerPoint presentation first of all to inculcate the value of consuming healthy food and its sources.
The students participated in different groups to learn about junk food, content matter of junk food, the health hazards caused by junk food and the physical exercises to cope up with the problems of obesity and Non Communicable diseases.
Height and weight of students was also measured to provide them the input of calories intake and other measures.
School Principal applauded the efforts of Dr Rekha Harish in the execution of Non Communicable Diseases Advocacy Programme and thanked her and her team of doctors for impressive and effective interaction.
