Rahul’s 7-wkt haul goes in vain as Gill helps Jammu Police to script win in Exhibition match

JAMMU, Apr 9: Former Ranji Trophy Player, Rajesh Gil’s brilliant 67 runs, Akshay Khjuria’s valuable 41 and 3 important wickets by SP South Sndeep helped Jammu Police Eleven to register convincing win over Jammu Media Eleven in the ‘Exhibition T20 Cricket Match’, which was played at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.

The match was organized by District Police Jammu, under the supervision of Sunil Gupta, SSP Jammu, while Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer was the Coordinator of the Match.

The objective of the exhibition match was to provide platform for the Police Officers and Media persons to interact with each other and test their cricketing skill.

Sunil Gupta SSP Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who inaugurated the match by playing a few balls in presence of SP South, Sandeep, SP Headquarters, Ramesh Kotwal.

The  media persons namely Vivek Suri, Yash Khajuria, Amit Kumar, Amit Sudan, Manmohan Khajuria, Des Raj and Sarabjeet Singh, besides DySPs Amit Sharma and Nikhal and Inspector Akshay Khajuria.

While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest SSP Jammu lavished praise for the organizing team for conducting the match for Police officers and Media persons, who otherwise are always busy in their jobs to serve the nation.

Earlier, batting first, Jammu Police Eleven scored 167 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rajesh Gill was the top scorer with 67 runs, studded with 9 fours and 1 six, while Akshay Khajuria contributed valuable 41 runs with 4 boundaries  and Shamsher chipped in with 11 runs.

From Media Eleven, Rahul was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 7 wickets while Vivek Suri and Yash Khajuria shared 1 wicket each.

Media Eleven, in reply could not achieve the target and made 136 runs in 19.3 overs, thus lost the match by 31 runs. Amit Kumar scored 29 runs, while Ashu Kumar and Vivek Suri contributed 25 and 21 runs respectively.

For Jammu Police XI, Sandeep, SP South was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets while Rajesh Gill, Shamsher Singh and Bhalwan claimed 1 wicket each.

Rajesh Gill from Police XI and  Rahul from Media XI were adjudged as joint winners of the  man of the match award by the organizing team headed by SP Headquarter, Ramesh Kotwal.
