DODA, Apr 11: In order to promote sports amongst girls in Doda district, Indian Army organized a sports event at Sports Stadium, here today.
The event was inaugurated by Commanding Officer (CO) Rashtriya Rifles posted at Doda.
Female sportspersons from various educational institutions participated in the event.
Indian Army aims at promoting girls by giving them exposure in sports and allied activities.
The organizers said that such events engage youths and channelize their energies in positive direction.
The event which was aimed at women empowerment, targeted to identify budding sportswomen and athletes from rural areas and provide them exposure at District and State levels.
Sporting event will promote physical fitness and health awareness amongst girls who are foundation stones of a healthy, progressive & positive society.
The tournament is being organized to promote athletics as a sport in the remote regions of J&K.
Indian Army, Doda is conducting the event with all essential administrative & logistics support.
The event is drawing overwhelming response from the public of Doda and the locals appreciated the efforts of Indian Army, Doda for promoting sports in the district.
