KATRA, Apr 11: Vice Chancellor Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Prof Sanjeev Jain honoured its University teams for their performances in the 1st State Universities Sports Champion-ships held recently at University of Jammu, here.
The teams from all the Universities of the Jammu & Kashmir State participated in the event. The Championships was held in various events like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and Table-Tennis. SMVDU participated in all the six events.
A total number of 96 students participated from SMVDU in various events. The team was accompanied by Rajiv Kumar (Faculty I/c Sports), Sameer Vohra, Assistant Registrar Student Affairs and Sucha Singh, Sports Coach.
In Table Tennis SMVDU got 2ndplace in Men and Women event, while in Basketball Women, SMVDU claimed 2nd position and in Men Basketball, it bagged 3rd place.
In Badminton, SMVDU got 3rd place in both Men and Women categories.
On the occasion, the VC announced a cash prize for all winning tems.
