JAMMU, Apr 19: JKAC Sports Club organised a Chess Competition in Shri Ranbir Singh Higher Secondary School, here today.
Around 50 students drawn from various schools participated in the Competition to vie for the top honours.
Haji Inayat Ali, Chairman, J&K Legislative Council was the chief guest.
Vikram Singh Bhadwal, PDP Youth Leader and Chairman JKAC Sports Club; Principal MTR ,Shafqat Javed Chib; Raj Kumar, President JKAC Sports Club; Pawan Kumar, President Shopkeepers Association Bawe Wali Mata; Parth Sharma, Honeshawar Singh, Chaman Angral, Rakesh Sharma and Nitesh Trikha were present on the occasion.
The participants of classes 6th,7th and 8th belonged to Sub Junior Category, while the participants of 9th ,10th and 11the were in Junior Category.
Ikjot Singh won gold, Rishab Matto bagged silver and Angadpal Singh got bronze in Sub Junior Category, while Janvi clinched gold, Samridh got silver and Harshveer Singh claimed bronze in Junior Category.
Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali distributed certificates and other prizes among the winners and other participants.
He said games are necessary for overall growth of a player, adding that Chess is a game which helps us in developing brain.
He said more and more such competitions should be organised at all levels.
Vikram Singh said JKAC Sports Club is formed with a mission and agenda that every youth should be involved in sports of his own choice.
