Army organises Cricket match for physically challenged

ANANTNAG, Apr 20: Army unit based at Aishmuqam, under the aegis of HQ Victor Force, organized Sakhi Zain Ud Din Wali Paralympic Cricket Match – 2017* under the Sadhbahvana scheme. The unit was approached for the help by the Captain of the Jammu and Kashmir Paralympics cricket team, Amir Hussain Lone who himself, even after losing both his hand, is a class all-rounder. Both the teams consisted of physically challenged players from all across the state willing to exhibit their talent, however were facing the shortage of funds and an apt platform for the same.
The match was played between J&K Para Team 1 & J&K Para Team 2 at Seer-Saliya Cricket Stadium on 20 April 2017. A Commanding Officer of an RR unit of the Victor Force inaugurated the match proceedings with the toss. J&K Para Team 1 won the toss but Team 2 went on to win the closely fought match by a narrow margin of 7 wickets.The winning team was awarded with cash prize and trophy alongwith gift hampers for all the participating players. While interacting with the players and their relatives over the tea after the match, a Commanding officer of the Indian Army assured the relatives that all possible assistance will be given in future also by the Army to the youth of Kashmir.
The event also witnessed a huge turnout of the local who come here to witness this exciting and unique match.
