1st Kartar Singh Memorial TT C’ship gets underway

JAMMU, Apr 21: 1st S. Kartar Singh Memorial Table Tennis Championship, which is being conducted in Stag Jammu Table Tennis Academy Nanak Nagar, Jammu, under the direction of JKTTA was declared open by Municipal Commissioner, Jammu, Manmohan Singh in presence of President Jammu Chamber of Traders Federation, Neeraj Anand and Senior Indian ranked players like Ajay Sharma, Satbir Singh and Sanjay Wahi, besides  Sanjeev Gupta, Renuka Thussu, Sanjeev Nagpal, Harinder Mahajan, IP Singh and Manmeet Kaur.
Speaking on the occasion, Manmohan Singh lavished praise for S. Attar Singh to take the initiative for the 1st Kartar Singh Memorial in remembrance to his father and founder of Attar Group of Companies, one of the oldest houses in the business of distribution and C&F.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Senior Coach, Ramesh Magotra and IP Singh for opening the Stag Table Tennis Academy which is equipped with latest Tables and Robot, and is helping to uplift the game of Table Tennis in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The exhibition match was played between Iknoor Kour and Rohan Langar, both Cadet Champions.
Over 150 players are participating from different districts of Jammu in the tournament.
The Tournament will conclude on April 24, 2017.
Earlier, in Cadet Boys up to 12 years, Madhav beat Agrim 11-5, 11-6; Ariv Gupta drubbed Shivain 11-4, 11-7; Sourav trounced Kanav 11-6, 11-8; Karmanya Wahi thrashed Arindam 11-5, 11-2; Aarit Bargotra got better of Abiral Dewan 11-5, 11-6 and Arya Gupta defeated Krish Sachdeva 11-6, 7-11, 11-8.
The matches were conducted by Sandeep Khadotra, Menu Ragesh, Shazzer and Ramesh Magotra.
