JAMMU, Oct 18: Churchill Brothers and Jammu Sports registered convincing victories to advance in the ongoing Senior Division Football League Tournament, being organized by Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at GGM Science College Football Ground, here today.
Earlier, in the first match, Churchill Brothers thrashed Mussa Club by five goals to one (5-1). Churchill Brothers got the early lead through Adonis Mattoo, who scored a splendid goal in 10th minute of the match, which was followed by another goal netted by Rohit Sandhu in 20th minute. Then Moon Stephen pelted the third goal in 45th minute, who scored another one in 50th minute. Rahul Sambyal netted a superb goal in the 56th minute of the match to make it 5-0, before Harmanjeet Singh netted a goal for Mussa Club to reduce the lead by one goal and make it (5-1) till last whistle was blown.
Meanwhile, in the second match played today, Jammu Sports registered a narrow win over Young Star Club by a solitary goal (1-0). Vivian of Jammu Sports netted a goal via penalty kick in 13th minute of the match.
The match was officiated by Kamal Kumar, Saudaghar Mattoo, Sanjay Kumar and Amardeep Singh, while the tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Surinder Singh Bunty, Resident Secretary JKFA Jammu wing and organizing secretary of the tournament.
