Fulfil election promises: Harsh to Amit Shah

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Apr 30: Urging upon the visiting BJP president,  Amit Shah to honour the election time promises made to  the people of Jammu region,  Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister said that the BJP’s political constituency had suffered the worst neglect and discrimination under the present regime.
He regretted that the delivery on the promises during the last more than two years rule had been in inverse proportion to the articulation of such high pitched slogans with not a single promise having been redeemed. He said that BJP had utterly failed to allay the ingrained perception in Jammu that it had sold its principles for power.
Drawing the attention of Amit Shah to some of the election time promises of BJP which were incorporated in its election manifesto as well,  Singh regretted its complete surrender especially over the issues of PRC rights for West Pak refugees, delimitation of Assembly constituencies, reservation of five seats in Assembly for PoJK migrants and 3 seats for Kashmir migrants, abolition of Custodian Department and granting ownership rights to its occupants, 33% reservation for women in Assembly, Sate subject and property rights to the children of daughters of J&K married to non State Subjects, 6% vertical reservation to ex-servicemen and martyrs families, grant of ex-gratia to families of martyrs, allotment of 5 marals plots to border dwellers in safe zones etc. He regretted that the U-turn taken by the Saffron Party on such issues had caused huge commotion and disenchantment in the region and called for initiation of steps for early implementation of the said assurances.
Drawing the attention of Amit Shah towards the “Agenda of Alliance” (AOA) which was termed as sacred by BJP-PDP Government, Singh lamented that it had absolutely nothing to offer to the people of Jammu region. Seeking the review of “AOA”, he termed the dossier as anti-national and anti-Jammu which prioritized highly controversial and sensitive issues like review of disturbed areas Act, phased revocation of AFSPA, status quo on Art 370, referring to separatists and Huriyat as stake holders and dividing Jammu in the name of Chenab valley and Pir-Panjal.
